Summer Vacation – Phineas & Ferb Style!

28 Aug

You know what I love most about writing a little blog? The fact that anything and everything can inspire me to write a post!!!! Ok, so you probably think that I’m bored, have run out of ideas and need to borrow from a Disney show called Phineas & Ferb to write about – but it really isn’t the case! Why? Because Phineas and Ferb make for EXCELLENT blogging inspiration! 🙂

For those of you who a) don’t have cable or b) consider yourselves too “adult” to watch the Disney channel – let me introduce you to two very popular characters: Phineas and Ferb. Despite the fact that its animated, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this show! (and yes, a little ashamed of it as well :)) Phineas and Ferb who are 2 step brothers, come up with an exciting adventure they will do that day while enjoying their summer vacation. Yes, the entire show is one big summer vacation.

I think this alone, watching a show about enjoying summer vacation is fun and exciting ! But what’s really awesome about these two brothers (and their pet Platypus Perry) is the fact that they never waste a day ! Ever ! Every day, these guys work on building something better, more fun, more exciting than the day before and each day they outdo themselves —

A few weeks ago, Disney premiered a special hour long Phineas & Ferb – called “The Summer Belongs to You.”  Among the many humorous lines throughout (and musical numbers) I love Phineas’s attitude. He tells Ferb: “ With the summer almost over, what have we accomplished?…. we’ve hardly done anything. We need a REAL challenge.” ” (I watched the clip on Youtube to get the quotes accurate :)) So in this episode, to really do something that really surpasses anything they’ve ever done, Phineas & Ferb decide on the summer equinox (longest day of the year) to travel around the world in such a way that they GAIN sunlight hours – thereby making it the longest day of sunlight ever! Along the way, they visit famous countries such as Japan and France, and of course they come across some bumps along the way, ending up stranded on an island for a bit .. (don’t worry they get home safely)

Ok, so what’s the connection to the 5 Pillars of Health? Well, truthfully – nothing – I just love these guys, so I felt I owed them a blog post 🙂

But in reality I love how this show reminds us that kids need to be kids …  these guys are the ideal “campers” enjoying their summers and having fun. They seize the day – each day – and never just sit around waiting for something or someone to come along and entertain them. (aka TV or the Wii).

Each day, sitting under their oak tree Phineas comes up with an idea and with enthusiasm proclaims: “Ferb, I know what we’re gonna do today!” (it’s the classic line) And in doing so, they get all their friends involved in their adventures always having an exciting day.

Don’t you wish YOU had a Phineas & Ferb to hang out with in the summer? 🙂 I know I do !

What you failed to mention is that when they say summer is almost over and what have we accomplished, they go through a family guy style list of some of the items that they have done that is beyond what anyone can ever have claimed to accomplish in ones life time let alone 3/4 of the summer, examples where a roller coaster throughout town, and time traveling twice were my favorites.

Avrumie – another Phineas & Ferb fan !!!! and here i thought i was the only “adult” (if i can call myself that) – who has a soft spot for these new age Disney shows. They certainly were not this good when i was a kid.

But now onto the extreme seriousness of the situation …. we all know that the Lifestyle of Phineas & Ferb is not for the faint of heart – and one must attain a certain amount of fortitude (and balls) to attempt ANY of those stunts — YOU try singing with Clay Aiken and making it out alive ?!?!?! In any case, these guys definitely set the bar pretty high – and lets not forget that i didnt even SCRATCH the surface since i not once mentioned the oblivious mom, the forever missing Perry the Platypus OR the amazing genius, hysterically funny and my personal favorite: Doofenshmirtz – Evil Incorporated !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now if you will excuse me, i must go work on my own title sequence …. :):)

What you must know if it can be construed as less than adult/Mature their is a good chance that I am a leading the pack, or at the very least following. Doofenshmirtz may be your favorite but in this 1 hour long episode i believe one of the best sequences was when Phineas was telling everyone else how he thought that because they were in Paris the city of Love and you have a boy and a girl things would just fall in place, all the time Isabella was ready to kill him as was shown by the constant breaking of pencils. And my very favorite part (no not the part where they think Shaka Kahn should be revived at all) was the whole Japanese anime sequence (what can i say i am a sucker for anime)
P.S. If you make a title sequence Candace will just tell mom on you.

ok ok … so i wont make a title sequence …. and youre a sucker for japanese music videos, but i personally LOVED the indian “Rubber bands, rubber balls..” number …. i could listen to that all day !!!!!

And yes, Isabella with her head exploding is really a great example of how adults can enjoy the show just as much as the kiddies …..

      Hi Chanie,
      thanks for commenting!

i think its time we begin a support group for adults who secretly watch Disney / cartoons — and live in fear of the public finding out :):):)

Happy you enjoyed my post …. and yes, Paris Hilton makes headlines if she buys a new lipstick ….
